Jose Bohorquez, PhD
President
Jose founded Bold Type to help companies solve hard technical problems. He has more than a decade of experience as a technical contributor and executive in various industries. These include the semiconductor industry, medical devices, consumer electronics, health and fitness, and the Internet of Things. Jose completed his PhD in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT with a minor in business administration from the Sloan School of Management.
Mohamad Foustok, PhD, ABD
Chief Software Architect
Mohamad has more than 25 years experience as a software architect, computer scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur. He's passionate about computer systems; especially embedded and distributed systems, systems analysis, machine to machine communications, machine learning and the art of software. Mohamad spent fifteen years at Motorola as a distinguished member of the technical staff and Chief Software Architect of their two-way radio division. Subsequently, Mohamad formerly served as Chief Technical Officer of Blue Maestro, where he launched 4 IoT products in less than two years. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Imperial College London, and Master's Degree in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern University, and completed all requirements for a PhD degree except for his dissertation which he hopes to go back to when time allows.
Andres Echeverry
VP, Product Development
Andres has over 15 years of experience across the full cycle of product development from product strategy to R&D to product launch. His career has allowed him to work in multiple industries ranging from power generation to aviation and IT. He has launched over a dozen products, stood up product development processes and organizations in startups, growth stage, and large firms. Along the way, he has gotten to collaborate with some of the best people the world can offer in strategy, innovation management, change management, and organizational design. Most recently, Andres served as VP of the Information Systems and Services division of a growth-stage defense technology firm. There, he developed and launched products in the enterprise asset and health management space and developed a data science and big data analytics portfolio of services. Andres has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a Master's degree from Harvard University.
Matthew Mercier
VP, Mechanical Engineering
Matthew brings over 25 years of experience in product design and manufacturing to assist companies in finding practical, value oriented solutions. Developing products at large and small medical manufacturers as well as consumer and industrial product companies gives Matthew a broad basis for selecting the most appropriate suppliers, materials, and processes for a new product. Expertise includes: plastic part design, electro-mechanical product integration, reliability testing, regulatory compliance, prototyping, and product documentation.
Jackie Hauge
Director, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Jackie has more than a decade of experience in medical quality assurance and regulatory affairs. She is an expert on FDA Traditional and Special 510(k) submissions, with more than twenty 510(k) clearances under her belt. These include diagnostic, implantable, disposable, and reusable medical devices. She also has experience with European Union (EU) Technical Documentation along with Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Middle East, and Singapore submission experience. Jackie is also well versed in Internal and External Auditing for US FDA and EU Notified Body. Jackie holds a Bachelor’s in Biology and a Master’s in Regulatory Affairs.
